4 Days Trekking in Bukit Lawang

Itinerary :

Day one

The first day of the trek begins at 8-9 a.m. after breakfast. We will walk for approximately 6-7 hours through the jungle, to spot orangutans and other wildlife. Along the way, we will also discover medicinal plants and learn about their use. At noon, we will take a lunch break before continuing to the campsite. Upon arrival at the campsite, we can rest, have a hot drink, and take a refreshing shower in the small stream. Finally, we will prepare dinner.

Day two

After having breakfast, it's time to get ready for the upcoming trek. The trek itself will last around 5 to 6 hours, during which you'll have the chance to explore the surrounding wilderness, keep an eye out for wildlife, and learn about different medicinal plants and "jungle food" found in the area. You'll enjoy lunch in the jungle before continuing to the next campsite, which is located near the river bank. After arriving at the campsite, you can take a refreshing shower in the clean, small jungle river before relaxing for the rest of the day. Finally, dinner will be prepared and served.

Day three

After setting off into the jungle, we'll be walking for 5-6 hours in search of orangutans and other animals, while also discovering medicinal plants and learning about their uses. At around noon, we'll take a break for lunch before continuing our trek to the campsite. Once we arrive, we'll have time to rest, enjoy a hot drink, and take a shower in a small stream near the waterfall. We'll then prepare dinner before calling it a day.

Day four

On the last day of a 4-day trek in Bukit Lawang, you will start the trek after breakfast, around 9 a.m. You will walk for about 4-5 hours deep into the jungle, searching for orangutans and other animals. After lunch, you will continue the rest of the trek and then head back to Bukit Lawang by traditional tube rafting.

Price per person:  200 Euro/person.

Minimum group size: two–three person.
Maximum group size: four – eight person.

Price includes :

Fully licensed English-speaking jungle guide.
Permits to enter the national park PHPA office ( ranger station ) camera tax 150,000, IDR
Permits from the Bukit Lawang Guide Association.
Foods and fruits, drinking water during jungle trekking.
Tent, sleeping mat, blanket/shed, mosquito net.
Traditional tube rafting back to Bukit Lawang.

Here is a list of items that you should bring along for your jungle adventure:

  1. Good quality walking boots or sports shoes for trekking in the jungle.
  2. Long trousers or shorts for walking in the jungle.
  3. Extra clean and dry clothes for changing into after the trek.
  4. A towel, shorts, and a swimming suit to take a refreshing dip in the river.
  5. Insect repellent and any necessary medications.
