6 Days Trek in Bukit Lawang

Itinerary :

Day one

The six-day trek begins after breakfast and departure. You will be walking for around 6-7 hours through the jungle, searching for orangutans and other wildlife. At noon, there will be a lunch break before continuing the walk to the campsite. Once you arrive at the campsite, you can take a rest and enjoy a hot drink, tea or coffee. You can also take a shower in the small stream before dinner preparation.

Day two

After breakfast, prepare for a 6-7 hour trek to the next campsite. Look for orangutans and other wildlife, learn about medicinal plants and jungle food, then walk along the river to reach the camp. Rest, swim, and have a hot drink before preparing dinner.

Day three

Start after breakfast, and get ready for the trek. Walk around 6-7 hours along the river to the next camp while searching for signs of wild orangutan nests and other wildlife tracks, and collect jungle vegetables for dinner. Learn how to make the jungle camp and how to prepare jungle dinner.

Day four

Get ready after breakfast for a 5-6 hour trek around the stationary camp. Search for wild animals and collect vegetables for dinner. At 6 p.m., observe animals at the salt lake. Prepare dinner afterward.

Day five

After breakfast, start walking to the next camp Walk for around 5-6 hours in the jungle, searching for wild orangutans and other animals. Take a rest at the camp and get a hot drink and then take a swim in the clean jungle river. Preparation of dinner.

Day six

After breakfast, take some time to relax around the campsite. Later, return to Bukit Lawang by traveling down the river on a tube raft after enjoying lunch.

Price per person:  300 Euro/person.

The minimum group size should be two to three people.
The maximum group size should be four to eight people.

Fully licensed English-speaking jungle guide.
Permits to enter the national park PHPA office ( ranger station ) camera tax 150,000, IDR
Permits from the Bukit Lawang Guide Association.
Foods and fruits, drinking water during jungle trekking.
Tent, sleeping mat, blanket/shed, mosquito net.
Traditional tube rafting back to Bukit Lawang.

To ensure you have a comfortable and safe jungle experience, please make sure to bring the following items:

  • Sturdy walking boots or sports shoes for navigating through the jungle.
  • Long trousers or shorts for trekking through the jungle.
  • Extra clean and dry clothes for changing into after your walk.
  • A towel, swim shorts, and a swimming suit for taking a dip in the river.
  • Insect repellent and any necessary medications.
